Introduction
Welcome to 47 Trees, a media theater project born from collecting stories about trees from around the globe. Over the past year, I’ve spoken with friends and acquaintances about trees that marked their lives. The conversations deepened my connection to these gentle giants, revealing how they live on a different timeline, offering us refuge, beauty, and fruit. They gather us, hold memories of our close ones, and stir our hearts as they blossom in spring or gracefully fade in autumn.
地球の各地で、木にまつわる物語を聴いていく中で生まれたメディアシアター、４７の木の物語。この１年間、友人や縁ある人たちと、人生に痕跡を残した木について、話し合ってきました。会話を通じて、木というやさしい巨人たちとの繋がりは私の中で深まっていきました。木は私たちとは異なる時間の流れを生きていますが、時間が交差する中で、拠り所となり、美しさや潤いや実りを分け与えてくれることが見えてきます。木々は、私たちを迎え入れ、大切な人たちの記憶を守ります。瑞々しく芽吹き、花を咲かせ、葉は色を変え、落ち、土に還る。その巡りの中で、私たちの心と生に寄り添います。

Biographies
Music + Concept : Jarosław Kapuściński
音楽 ＋ コンセプト : ヤロスワフ・カプチンスキー
Jarosław Kapuściński is an Associate Professor of Music at Stanford University, where he is affiliated also with the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures. His research focuses on intermedia composition, performance, and Japanese traditional aesthetics.
Kapuściński has received grants and commissions from numerous international organizations, including the National Endowment for the Arts, the Governor General of Canada, and Institut National de l’Audiovisuel (INA) in France. His works have been awarded prizes at festivals in Canada, France, Switzerland, and the United States, and have been presented at venues such as New York MOMA, Spoleto USA, EMPAC NY, Logan Center in Chicago, ZKM in Karlsruhe, Reina Sophia Museum in Madrid, Media Biennale Wroclaw, Warsaw Autumn Festival, Creative Media Center in Hong Kong, Benz Arena in Shanghai, and National Art Centre in Ottawa.
In addition to his artistic work, Kapuściński has collaborated on scholarly websites about Japanese Gagaku music (gagaku.stanford.edu) and Noh Theater (noh.stanford.edu).
ヤロスワフ・カプスチンスキーはスタンフォード大学において音楽分野の准教授であり、同大学東アジア言語文化学部にも所属している。彼はインターメディアの作曲、パフォーマンス、そして日本の伝統的な美学に焦点を当て研究を行っている。

Actor : St.Adamare – Toshimitsu Kokido
St.Adamare – Toshimitsu Kokido is Artist, Founder of THEATREWORK, and Artistic Director of the Centre of Distant Theatre Japan and its Art Gallery. St.Adamare studied drama and performance at Northumbria University in Newcastle, UK. He has performed widely, in film, TV, theatre, and contemporary art, and has released several albums with his band tokyo blue weeps. He played the leading role in the NHK documentary drama ‘ Antoki ‘ that depicted the intergenerational sufferings of those affected by the Nagasaki atomic bombings. His publications include ‘ Hyogen to Iki wo Shiteiru (Breathing, with Expression ) in 2017. St.Adamare began his work as an educator in 2017, developing the Theatre for Peace and Conflict Resolution program with Waseda University, Korea University, Peking University, and the Contemplative Theatre program with Keio University. He currently offers somatic theatre-based workshops and healing-centered education for therapists, educators, business leaders, and lightworkers. He engages in daily contemplative practice through meditation, swimming, and dancing in the Pacific Ocean around his home in Akiya Japan.

シアターワークの創始者として、国内外の教育機関、ビジネスリーダー、セラピスト、ライトワーカーに、身体知教育、リーダーシップ教育、芸術療法としてのシアターワークを教授。アーティストとしての主な出演作に、NHK「あんとき、」主演、映画「菊とギロチン」大杉栄役、TBS「報道特集」密着ドキュメンタリー、インド オディシャビエンナーレ舞踊公演「Borderline」、著書にエッセイ集「表現と息をしている」がある。映画「明日の食卓」（瀬々敬久監督）では、主題歌「Motherland」を歌っている。Centre of Distant Theatre Japan 芸術監督として、アートヒーリングセンター、および、同クリスタルギャラリーを運営するほか、国際的に数々のパフォーマンス公演を手掛ける。

Mayu Tsuruta was born in Kanagawa, Japan. She made her acting debut with TV series Abunai Shonen II (TX) in 1988. Acclaimed for her intellectual and sophisticated acting style, she is active in television, film, stage and in commercials.She has also appeared on a number of documentary shows.Major appearances in films include:Kike Wadatsumi no Koe (’95); Owl’s Castle (’97); Half a Confession (’04); The Unbroken (’09); The Ravine Of Goodbye(‘13); Six Four(‘16);DESTINY: The Tale of Kamakura(‘17); Every Day a Good Day(‘18); Noise(‘22); One day, You will Reach the Sea(‘22).
In 1996, she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Japanese Academy Awards for her role in the film Kike Wadatsumi no Koe. She was also a goodwill ambassador at the 4th Tokyo International Conference on African Development.

1988年女優デビュー。その後、ドラマ、映画、舞台、CMと幅広く活動。凛とした力強さとしなやかさを併せ持つ演技で注目され、1996年には「きけ、わだつみの声」で日本アカデミー賞優秀助演女優賞を受賞。近年は、ドラマ「犯罪症候群」「おもひでぽろぽろ」「個人差あります」「らんまん」「自転しながら公転する」「誰かがこの町で」、映画「６４-ロクヨン」「DESTINY鎌倉ものがたり」「日日是好日」「ノイズ」「やがて海へと届く」「かぞく」など話題作に出演。旅番組、ドキュメンタリー番組への出演も多く、番組出演がきっかけで、2008年には第４回アフリカ開発会議（TICAD Ⅳ）の親善大使の委任を受けた。著書に旅エッセイ「ニッポン西遊記 古事記編」「神社めぐりをしていたらエルサレムに立っていた」(共に幻冬舎)、写真集「Silence of India」(赤々舎)などがある。また、音楽家など様々なアーティストとジャンルの枠を超えた活動を精力的に行い、クリエイションの場を広げている。
Flute : Kohei Nishikawa
横笛：西川 浩平
Kohei Nishikawa graduated from Toho Gakuen High School of Music, he then went on to become the principal flutist of the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra. He subsequently left the orchestra to pursue a career specializing in Japanese bamboo flutes [Noh-kan and Shinobue].
In 1980, he joined ProMusica Nipponia, where he stayed active until 2022. In 2011, he began the research on the nose-flutes of Taiwan, Hawaii, Myanmar, and Malaysia by the support of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS/ Kakenhi) fund. In 2015, he received the Asian Cultural Council (ACC/ USA) fund for the research of nose-flutes in Taiwan. He has published four books, including “Invitation to the Japanese Music” “Look into Kabuki from the Backstage” etc. He has performed and conducted masterclasses abroad, including Canada, USA and several Asian countries.
第１回オーストラリア国際フルートコンクール第３位入賞。大阪フィルハーモニー交響楽団フルート奏者として活動後、日本の横笛にて日本音楽集団に入団し多くの現代作品の演奏、初演に携わる。CDアルバム「Flutist from the East」Vol.1～4、冨田勲「源氏物語幻想交響絵巻」、著書として「邦楽おもしろ雑学事典」「歌舞伎音楽を知る」「和楽器の世界」等を出版。 平成25年度より日本学術振興会、科学研究費助成を受け、マレーシア、ミャンマー、ハワイなど、少数民族の横笛研究、27年、米国、ACC Asian Cultural Council基金を授与し、台湾、少数民族の音楽研究に赴いている。
Percussion : Hidemi Murase

Hidemi Murase has won numerous awards, including first place and the special grand prize in the percussion category at the Japan Wind And Percussion Competition, and first place in the International Marimba Competition. She went to the United States as an overseas artist trainee sent by the Agency for Cultural Affairs and graduated from Berklee College of Music. While in the United State, she was invited to perform in concerts and festivals from various countries. Her concerts and master classes in various locations have been highly praised for her outstanding technique and vivid, delicate musicality. She has served as a judge for competitions both in Japan and abroad, premiered commissioned works, and released the sheet music “Agglomeration for Marimba” through Kawai Publishing. She is a Pearl/Adam performer and a lecturer at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music.
日本管打楽器コンクール打楽器部門第1位及び特別大賞受賞の他、国際マリンバコンクール優勝等の受賞歴を持つ。文化庁派遣芸術家在外研修員として渡米中、諸外国からの招聘を受けて演奏会やフェスティバルに出演する等活躍。各地におけるコンサートやマスタークラスは卓越した技術と鮮麗かつ繊細な音楽性が高い評価を受けている。国内外でコンクールの審査員を務める他、委嘱作品の初演や楽譜「Agglomeration for Marimba」をカワイ出版より発売している。パール/アダムスパフォーミングアーティスト。洗足学園音楽大学各講師。
Koto : Miyama McQueen-Tokita
琴：マクイーン時田 深山
Tokyo-based koto and bass koto player Miyama McQueen-Tokita’s practice re-imagines the vocabulary and tradition of Japanese music in the contemporary context of improvisation and experimental music. With the occasional addition of voice and electronics, Miyama’s work as a composer and interpreter speaks beyond her foundation in hogaku and experimental music, with influences ranging from Kazue Sawai to Meredith Monk. As a featured soloist and collaborator with ensembles such as the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Australian Art Orchestra, Miyama’s ability to exist in multiple musical worlds is a defining aspect of her musical identity.
Her debut solo album “SONOBE”, released in 2020, features new and existing works for the koto by composers from all around the world. In 2019 she spent six months in NYC as a grantee of the Asian Cultural Council New York Fellowship, where she immersed herself deeply in the experimental, free improvised and new music scenes. Miyama has been taught by Satsuki Odamura and Kazue Sawai
即興、現代音楽、オリジナル曲を演奏する、オーストラリア生まれの箏奏者。ジャンルの境目に関係なく現代人が面白い、聴きたいと思える音楽を箏で作るという考えで独自の方向を目指す。ソロに加え様々な形での共演も多く、その自然体で豊かな表現は定評を得ている。ソリストとして出演している音楽祭には東京JAZZフェスティバル、ドイツのMoers Festival等があり、共演している団体にはVancouver Symphony Orchestra、Australian Art Orchestra、日本フィルハーモニー交響楽団等。また新世代作曲家と協力し、これまでにない箏の音楽を作り上げようと前進する。2019年にはACCのグランティとして半年間ニューヨークに滞在し、現代音楽と即興に関わる。2020年に欧・米・豪・日の作曲家の作品を収録したソロアルバム”SONOBE”をリリース。小田村さつき、沢井一恵に師事。東京在住。

クリエイティブライティング＋翻訳：井本 由紀
Yuki IMOTO is associate professor at Keio University, where she is director of the Centre for Contemplative Studies. Yuki gained her doctorate in anthropology at the University of Oxford, and was later a Fulbright scholar at Stanford University, where she conducted research on contemplative and arts-based approaches to learning. Yuki has written numerous articles and chapters on Japanese culture, education, and mindfulness; and has also participated as dramaturg and musician in the 2019 Odisha Biennale.
慶應大学理工学部准教授・観想研究センター代表
オックスフォード大学で人類学を学び、後にスタンフォード大学でフルブライト研究員として、観想教育とアートベースの教育について研究を行う。日本文化と若者、教育、マインドフルネス等についての著作があり、2019年のオディシャビエンナーレ（インド）には、ドラマトゥルクと出演者として携わっている。

Majored in Communication at university. After graduation, worked as a sales associate at an apparel shop before transitioning to a career as a designer through Digital Hollywood School. Gained experience as a UI/UX designer at teamLab Inc.
Currently working as a freelance professional, engaging in various projects across design, direction, photography, and more. Additionally, contributes to nurturing the next generation of designers by serving as an instructor at Digital Hollywood School.
大学にてコミュニケーションを専攻。卒業後、アパレルショップにて販売員として働くが、デジタルハリウッドスクールを経てデザイナーに転身。チームラボ株式会社にてUI/UXデザイナーとして経験を積む。現在は、フリーランスとしてデザインを中心に、ディレクション、撮影など多方面で、様々なプロジェクトに関わり活動。また、母校のデジタルハリウッドスクールにて、講師として次世代のデザイナー育成にも携わっている。
